Dominion changed that) with only 200 people. You wouldn't feel how the game is really like without being part of the large EVE community. EVE isn't like any normal MMORPG where you just level up and start killing people. In EVE, everything is affected by something called the Butterfly Effect(watch the video below for more details). An individual's action may cause the outbreak of an interstellar war(This actually happened to BoB when Goons disbanded their alliance). Plus, if you are an active subscriber of EVE Online, you have access to a separate server(test server called SiSi) where CCP allows you to test game functions before actually putting them in place on the official server. In SiSi, everything cost 1 ISK, so you can just have fun pew pewing without seeing your wallet drop. If you are really interested in playing EVE, I suggest buy it. But just to make sure you don't get your hopes up, battles similar to the one in the trailer doesn't happen everyday, you probably won't see someone hot dropping a crapload of titans and moms on you in a while.
